RYAN “WOODIE” WOOD WRITTEN INTERVIEW FROM 2001

I was fortunate enough to have the chance to interview Woodie back in 2001 for a class I was taking at Sac State. The paper was only to be 3 pages but I wish I had written more. Anyways check it out and I hope you like it.

Here is something I wrote right after Wood passed away

‘REST IS PEACE RYAN WOOD aka WOODIE, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MISSED.

Rapbay.com/Urbanlife and Ryan Miller (Co-Owner Rapbay.com/Urbanlife) would like to thank Woodie and East Co. Co. Records for their GREAT music over the last ten years. Woodies sudden tragic death is a shock to me and to the whole bay area rap community. NOT only have we lost a Great Musician but I have also lost a Friend.

I have worked with Ryan Wood since 1997 and watched and helped Wood become a legend in the bay area rap scene. Rapbay/Urbanlife, myself, and East. Co. Co. Records relationship over the years has helped both of our business elevate and continue on. He has released over 10 albums (with a few in the works) on East Co. Co. Records and has sold way over 50,000 CD’s, Tapes, and Downloads (closer to 100,000). His music was amazing for any kind of rap fan and he kept it gangsta which was a perfect combo. Ryan wanted nothing more than to make beats and have his homies rap with him.

Ryan was a real dude who was also a HUGE bay area rap fan. I remember we would always talk about old bay area rap releases and reminisce about the good ol’ days. I would send him CDs or tapes that he would see on Rapbay, and Wood would be like, “Man where did you find that shit? Send me 2 copies, no wait 3 copies; I need that for me and a couple of homies.” I’m really going to miss him.

Rapbay and Woodie had a lot planned and Wood had a lot to look to forward too. I am soooo sad this shit happened and I will have Wood in my blessings and think about him every day for the rest of my life.

Rapbay.com/Urbanlife staff and myself would like to send our love to Ryan’s family and let everyone know we are doing are best to help in any way we can. Money from the sales of Woodie’s and East Co. Co.’s CD’s, T-shirt’s, or Downloads goes directly to the family and a RIP T-shirt (100% Goes Directly to Family) will be available any day.

I know Woodie LOVED his fans and would want ALL of them to carry on his legacy and to NEVER stop playing his music. I know this because not only was I Woodies Distributor, I was also one of his biggest fans.

Miss you Wood.

Woodie and East Co. Co. 4 life

Thank You for all your support
